The Executive Secretary of the African Peace Support Trainers Association (APSTA), Dr. Cecile Oyono Thom, led a delegation of Commandants and senior representatives from Member Institutions to the 29th Annual International Association of Peacekeeping Training Centres (IAPTC) Conference held in Vicenza, Italy. The Conference was hosted by Center of Excellence for Stability Police Units (CoESPU), under the theme “Peace Operations Training in a Dynamic World: Fostering Cooperation, Inclusivity and Efficiency,” from 9 – 14 November 2025. The five-day conference convened subject-matter experts, Centres of excellence, strategic partners, and senior leaders from the military, police and civilian components of peace and security operations globally.
During the conference, Dr. Cecile Oyono Thom delivered the regional report, highlighting current developments, progress within regional mechanisms, and ongoing initiatives across the continent. She also provided an update on APSTA’s continuing efforts to strengthen peace support operations through enhanced training, institutional collaboration, and evidence-based capacity-building programmes. Dr. Oyono Thom reaffirmed APSTA’s unwavering commitment to supporting Member Institutions and partners through innovation, strategic cooperation, and sustained capacity development, ensuring that Africa remains proactive and responsive to the evolving demands of global peace operations.
