15th African Standby Force Training Implementation Workshop, Cairo, Egypt
The African Union Commission (AUC) held the 15th African Standby Force (ASF) Training Implementation Workshop (TIW) from 1 to 3 November 2023 in Cairo, Egypt. The TIW is an important annual platform that brings together key decision-makers at the Continental and Regional Planning Elements (PLANELMs) to coordinate and harmonize training activities in accordance with the Training Policy and Training Directives of the ASF. The African Standby Force (ASF) Training Implementation Workshop (TIW) is an annual stock-taking platform which is aimed at coordinating and harmonizing training activities with Regional Economic Communities/Regional Mechanisms (RECs/RMs), Training Centres of Excellence and Training Institutions (TCEs/TIs) and African Union mandated and authorised missions in accordance with the ASF Training Policy and Directives. To ensure that issues of compliance and accountability to IHL and IHRL are given prominence in the new ASF Training Directives to be issued for 2024-2026 and also integrated in the training regimes of participation TCEs/TIs and AU PSOs, the 15th Annual Training Implementation Workshop worked under the theme : «Implementing Compliance and Accountability in AU …
