23 Jul Handover Ceremony of the Strategic Command Center funded by APSTA
On 21st July 2026, The African Peace Support Trainers Association (APSTA) formally handed over the Strategic Command Control Center to EIFORCES Cameroon during a brief ceremony attended by distinguished guests, development partners, and other stakeholders. In their remarks, General Bitote, Director General of EIFORCES, and Dr. Oyono, Executive Secretary of APSTA, described the handover as a significant milestone in advancing peace support operations, security cooperation, and operational excellence within the region. They noted that the timing of the project is particularly relevant given the increasing demand for enhanced coordination, rapid decision-making, and realistic training environments to address contemporary security challenges.
The speakers emphasized that the Strategic Command Control Center represents more than a physical facility. They highlighted its role as a modern platform for training, simulation, command, and control, designed to strengthen the preparedness and effectiveness of personnel involved in peace support operations. They further noted that the center would serve as a repository of innovation, knowledge, and best practices for Cameroon and the wider Central African region. General Bitote and Dr. Oyono commended APSTA, EIFORCES, and all stakeholders whose commitment and support contributed to the successful completion and transfer of the facility. They underscored that the center will enhance regional readiness, interoperability, and cooperation among peace support actors while contributing to sustainable peace and security.
The ceremony concluded with the formal handover of the Strategic Command Control Center by APSTA to EIFORCES and a reaffirmation of the shared commitment of both institutions and their partners to ensure the effective utilization of the facility as a strategic asset for training, operational coordination, and capacity development in Cameroon and across the Central African region. This version is cleaner and more appropriate if the attendance list was limited to distinguished guests, development partners, and stakeholders.
